What does “Level 1 Digital Skills” mean?
Level 1 is an entry-level qualification for beginners. It covers basic digital skills—using devices, handling information, communicating online, staying safer online, etc. It’s ideal if you’re new to IT or want to formalise your skills.
Who is this course for?
It’s for people with little or limited digital skills, or who want to build confidence with computers / online tools. It may be suited for adults returning to learning, or learners who wish to progress to higher levels (Level 2).
Do I need any prior qualifications to apply?
Usually, there are no formal requirements, or very few. Some providers may ask for a basic initial assessment to check your existing digital skills. (For example, Lancaster & Morecambe College’s Essential Digital Skills Level 1 course asks for an initial assessment.
